Van Belle Nursery is proud to be a Gold Key™ Grower for this very popular line of plants. We sell more than 40 Proven Winners® ColorChoice® varieties, with more new and exciting varieties coming every year. The marketing clout behind the Proven Winners®  brand means retailers of every size can benefit from the brand awareness and mass advertising all across North America.

Proven Winners® ColorChoice® is not just another brand of plants. They are a select group of new, colorful, easy growing plants selected specifically for the North American gardener. We search the world for the best new plants and test them to make certain you get only the best performing, most colorful varieties.

How a new plant becomes a Proven Winners® ColorChoice® variety

A new plant must prove itself as superior to get into the Proven Winners® ColorChoice® program. Novelty alone is not enough. Potential varieties are evaluated against existing varieties in side by side evaluations and are graded on the following criteria:

  • Is the plant an improvement over current selections?
  • Is it a healthy growing plant, with superior disease and pest resistance?
  • Does the plant have multiple seasons of ornamental interest?
  • Does the plant serve a new or unique function in the landscape?

If a new variety scores well in this initial evaluation, it's then subjected to a production evaluation. If a plant performs well in production, it's then made available to progressive growers across North America. (source: www.provenwinners.com)
